Hi Julie,

My 17 yos will graduate next spring just like he would have with the public
school system. Here's the difference. In TN, he has to have certain
classes to graduate. He's met all those requirements except for completing
his foreign language. He will be finished with it by Christmas, but we
won't graduate him until May. He needs the insurance and has some
"electives" that he wants to complete. His "electives" are 3 months in
Jamaica living with our missionary friends, Pastors Stoney and Evelyn
Fairweather. He is planning to go to Bible school while he is there and
help them in any way possible. He would also like to do some more
traveling, perhaps staying with a nice homesteading family for 2-4 weeks
;-).

Just today he expressed an interest in going to college this semester. If
that's what he wants to do, that's fine. He did freshman composition already
and audited US History II. I've got to get a schedule and find out what it
will cost and get on the ball and get him enrolled. (Gonna have to find some
more potholes to fill to get it paid for!)

So, for us, I think that graduation will be a formality. Our umbrella
school will send him a diploma and we will plan some sort of
party/graduation program for him here at home. He's not interested in
attending the homeschool graduation and we'll all be happier with something
more significant here with his friends and family.

HTH,
Dana
