Guitar tuning (was 'meant to be easy')

You know what, this is a problem that can be solved. Guitars can be tuned. I
just recently bought a Boss TU-2 guitar tuner. It is a foot pedal-style tuner
with a bypass switch for silent tuning. Step on the switch and you can tune
your electric guitar without anyone hearing. I tune after our morning
rehearsal, and again just before we start our morning worship. If we have a
break in between songs I will quick check my tuning again if I had noticed
anything that sounded funny. As strings age it becomes more and more
difficult to hold a tune, so maybe a gentle "change your strings" reminder
might be in order. A good rule of thumb if you are playing frequently is to
change about once per month.

Of course, none of this will work if your piano is out of tune. That will make
the guitar sound out of tune even if it isn't. Can't tell you how many times
I've had to detune my guitar to match a pathetically tuned piano.
