Hello Hope Chest friends!

Happy All Saints Day! Many liturgical denominations celebrate All Saints Day on November 1. Though I am not a member of any of them, I still take the opportunity to thank God for all the Christian saints (any believers in Jesus Christ) who have blessed my life through teaching, prayer, encouragement and service.   As I look back through the years, I am staggered by his provision for me in his saints.

I am also thankful for each of you, and how you are using your lives to bless other people. Even if you aren't involved in some big ministry, you are making a difference even as you take the time to home school your children.

From the Urbana 84 missions hymnal, I learned the 19th century Anglican hymn, For All the Saints, which was written by William Howe.    I have often sung the first verse to my children as a lullabye, and I'd like to share it with you:

        For all the saints,

        Who from their labors rest,

        Who Thee, by faith, before the world professed,

        Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blessed,

        Alleluia! Alleluia!

And finally, here is my prayer for each of you today:

"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:14-19

I will send out the November issue of the Hope Chest, with a theme of A Fruitful Family, within the next few weeks.
