Hay situation and prayer request

Posted by: dhaley <dhaley@...>

Last night as the hay man was leaving he said that last year he did cutting
for one of the largest land owners in the county. He got 2/3rds of the hay
and the owner got 1/3. He said he'd be willing to do this on at least one
of our cuttings. I'm going to BEG him to do it on all the cuttings. Even
if he feels his best market is right now he can take all of this cutting to
sell. We figured it out last night and with just two cuttings we'd end up
with 33 round bales (our third), three cuttings we'd end up with 48. We
only need 20 or so. At least we wouldn't have to try to sell 125 round
bales. We'd only have 25 or so extra to sell or use if we managed to buy
some calfs. He'd make alot more money selling the hay than we'd be able to
pay him for his labor so it's in his best interest to take the 2/3rds. I
just don't know if he'll do it. He's needing cash to buy the neighbors
tractor. The other thought is that if he'd take his 2/3rds that I'd
consider buying all of his sheep. 3 came from my flock anyway and he hasn't
paid for one of them. Now sheep I can sell! Actually I probably wouldn't
sell them. Butcher the weathers, sell one black ram and keep the 3 ewes.
(more hay and pasture eating machines). Thanks for listening....Deanna in
MN where we went from drowing to boiling alive in the same week. Last week
we had to wear sweaters. Today we are having to cover all windows just to
keep the heat down. Good news for the hay farmers though.
