"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (I Peter 5:7)
"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor
gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much
better than they?" (Matthew 6:26)So many times we, the people who live such a short time in this world,
become greatly concerned about how we are going to "make ends meet".
It is oh so very important that we look up to our Heavenly Father and trust
Him to take care of us. Has He not said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God
and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you"?
(Matthew 6:33)But, someone may say, "Who am I, and what is the importance of my little
problem to the Almighty God of the Universe?" Oh, dear soul, His Word
teaches us that He is ever mindful of us.He cares about us each one. There is no problem too big OR too little to
bring to Him. He encourages us to "come boldly unto the throne of grace"
that we might "find grace to help in time of need". And, He specifically
says that He thinks thoughts of peace toward us and that He has the very
hairs of our heads numbered. Jesus made the point that not one sparrow
falls to the ground unnoticed by the Father and asks, "Are ye not much
better than they?"To illustrate this truth, let us peak in on an incident in the life of a
construction crew leader. The crew had been clearing all obstructions to a new highway. As they
approached a tree directly in the path of the new road, the man in charge
noticed that a bird had built a nest in it. The mother bird had some
babies. The man decided to wait to clear that particular tree until the
baby birds could fly out of the nest. Finally, the birds had vacated their little home. The man ordered the tree
be cut down. When it fell to the ground, the nest was jolted from the tree,
and a little piece of paper became dislodged from the nest. The scrap of
paper must have been included in the mother bird's construction of her home.
There were words on the paper: "He careth for you".Probably the scrap had come from some piece of Sunday School material.
I believe that God orchestrated the circumstances to show someone --
maybe many persons -- that He cares for them!He cares for me! He cares for you!
Let us remember His care, His love for us, and let us take "everything to
God in prayer".Yours In Christ,
Martin Overfield
