help/suggestions needed re: cloth diapers

Posted by: marli <marli@...>

Hi everyone,
I have never used cloth diapers with any of my 6 children. But, with all
that is going on, I thought it might be a good idea to buy some and have
them on hand in case I can't get to the store or for any other unseen
problems with obtaining disposable ones. (I know about the money savings, dh
never wanted to use them...too many bad memories of changing his younger
brothers back in the 70s.) However, with my youngest 18 months old and my
next one 32 months old and still in diapers, I'm thinking I should go ahead
and invest in some and finish out their diaper time in cloth.

Can anyone suggest the most economical way for me to go since we won't be
using them a long time?
I've read that nylon pants are good, have visited the sites with expensive
diaper covers and all that, have also seen the sites selling expensive
diapers. I don't think we can spend a bunch of money on this, but I would
also like to avoid purchasing diapers that are so ineffective that everyone
and everything else gets wet when the baby wets. I do plan to start training
the 32 month old, he already will go on the toilet some, just doesn't
believe in thinking about or telling me anything when he needs to go. His
verbal ability is behind that of my other kids, so I've been delaying until
he was talking more. So, he will only need some for a short time more during
the day, probably will need some at night for a few more months and the 18
month old (also a boy) needs them 24/7. Thanks so much, Lisa
