Church question

I have a question that I would like to pose to the list and if you feel led
to respond please do. Recently a friend of mine made the comment that her
and her husband felt that biblically it is not right for a woman to be in a
leadership position at a church unless it is in the children's department.
In particular it was for the leading of songs that had brought up the
subject. I had never heard of this issue before and wanted to know if any of
you had and what your thoughts are. I haven't gotten any scriptures to back
this claim up as of yet, they assure me they will get them to me. What are
your thoughts list? You can reply either on the list or privately, whichever
you prefer.
