Resource Reviews and More ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

WHAT'S NEW AT THE KNOWLES HOUSE?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This issue is about "resources" so I don't want to overlook some of the most important ones: other people! A few weeks ago I couldn't sleep, so I lay in bed thinking about all of the people who had invested themselves in my children recently. The list keeps getting longer. These are people who:
- teach Sunday School, sign language and other classes
- lead a six week home school choir
- coach a child on piano skills
- research high school credits and hold us accountable
- host a study group on parenting teens
- hire my teen age daughters as babysitters
- include the teen girls in our church lady's fellowship functions
- invite our children over for meals and swimming
- chaperone the gym night at church
- organize home school field trips
- chauffeur our children to various functions
- pass on hand-me-down clothes and books
- encourage our children with kind comments
- brought an first aid supplies for a child who had something in her eye
- visited another of my children in the hospital (child wishes to remain nameless!)
- delivered meals while I was at the hospital for three days with my child
- donated blood (I don't even know the names of these folks)
- gave excellent medical care (doctors, nurses, lab techs, etc.)
- personally arranged a medical appointment with a specialist who "wasn't taking new patients"
That was not even a complete list! I am so in awe of how God has used all of these wonderful people to bless us that it brings tears to my eyes. God knows I can't single handedly meet all the needs of my children, so he has sent others to come alongside us in service. Their dedication astounds me. I know am not in this adventure alone! I encourage you to take the time to think-and-thank those who are a blessing to your family.
If you would like to "come alongside us" by lifting our family up in prayer, that would be so appreciated! Here are a few points of intercession:
- Pray for on-going recovery from a child's recent medical crisis, which is the result of a chronic condition. (As it is also likely to be hereditary, I also have some testing to undergo in relation to this.)
- Pray for me to have wisdom and patience in counseling my dear husband's older sister, who has severe psychiatric problems and calls me nearly every day for advice and prayer.
- Pray for my brain -- my short term memory has really been slipping lately with everything going on, which has been causing some minor problems! (In the past few weeks, I have left purchases at the grocery store, forgotten to mail checks, nearly missed appointments, etc.) I am also WAY behind on answering e-mail. (Thanks for your patience!)
- Pray for a balance in our schedule as I try to meet the diverse needs of husband, home and children.
- Pray for my Common Sense Excellence book that everything will come together at the right time, and that it will meet the needs of those who read it.
- Pray for my workshop presentation at the Regent Academy Book Fair (Orlando area) on June 15.
By the way, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
As usual, there is so much more that I could say this month, but at this point, I just want to get this newsletter out to you! I hope it is a blessing.
Blessings,
Virginia Knowles
