~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hello Hope Chest friends!
It's actually ICY outside here in Orlando! Our lawn is frosted white,
and the car windows are coated with a good layer. My daughter Mary says,
"Mom, just go outside and breathe!" No thanks! It's a good thing that
my husband Thad went out and covered our shrubs with sheets and blankets
last night. He always takes the cue from our neighbor Marie. If she
covers hers, we cover ours. I planted a little braided hibiscus outside
our school room / dining room window a few years ago to replace one we
lost in a previous freeze, and I hope that we don't lose this one. I
know some of you are wondering what a braided hibiscus is, so I'll tell
you! It is a hibiscus bush that has its branches braided together at the
base so that they will stand up straighter and not flop out as much.
There's your horticulture lesson for the day!I've got a few prayer requests and announcements for you all today.
First, some friends who work (in a very special way) in Kazhakstan have
told me that the Christian believers in that country have declared that
today is a national day of prayer. Please lift up this predominantly
Muslim country, which is a former Soviet possession, before the throne of
God today!My friends write, "The Kazakh Partnership would like to invite everyone
to participate in the National Day of Prayer and Fasting on Wednesday,
January 9, 2002. This will be a day for all believers throughout
Kazakhstan, as well as for those believers worldwide who have a heart for
this nation and its people, to join together in prayer and fasting, to
ask God to bring about awakening and revival to Kazakhstan."HEALING FOR CANCER PATIENTS
On Monday I got two e-mails about friends with cancer. One was about a
little girl named Tesla, who is the 3 year old daughter of a friend of
ours. They found tumors on both kidneys last week, and I think she had
surgery yesterday to remove one kidney and take the tumor off the other
one. She will have chemotherapy. Tesla is from a home schooling family
with 8 children. The other e-mail was about my friend Pam who has
ovarian cancer which has not responded to either conventional or natural
treatments. She has been in the hospital for about a month, and things
do not look well. Pam is a home school mom with a teenage son still at
home. Her married daughter is due with the first grandbaby next month.
Please lift these families in prayer!SURGERY FOR ME NEXT WEEK!
Next Friday, January 18, I am scheduled for outpatient surgery to repair
an abdominal hernia that popped up (literally!) during my last pregnancy.
I am having the operation so that it will be safe to carry another
unborn baby in the future -- without my belly splitting further open!
🙂 I will be under general anesthesia and expect to spend the rest of
that day in bed recovering from grogginess, but I'm supposed to be up and
walking at least a mile the next day! I won't be able to lift Naomi or
Micah or laundry for at least a week. Naomi, who just turned 11 months,
is able to walk across the room by herself now, and I'm not sure if that
is going to help me or hinder me during recovery! Please pray for
safety during the surgery, and that I will heal completely without
complications.DOES ANYONE HAVE A COPY OF STRAIGHT TALK?
I am planning to order Straight Talk by Marisa Lapisch to use for speech
therapy with my son Andrew. Does anyone have a copy of this and/or the
accompanying video which they wish to sell? Also, does anyone have
comments on how effective this is? We are going for consultation with a
speech therapist today.MARDY FREEMAN NEWSLETTER
