by J. Randal MathenyWhere they will, the winds move to and fro,
We know not whence they come nor where they blow.
So little the eye can see, and less perceive,
How deaf the ear to sounds of eternity!
Earthly labors quench the Spirit's fire,
The weights of sin prevent from climbing higher.
Midst all the noise, a voice, serene and calm,
Urges us receive the heavenly balm;
But who of humankind will hear and heed,
Confess his sins, admit his deepest need?
Depart from me, O Lord, for I have sinned;
From God's own height, come save me, Holy Wind!--
