I DID IT! I walked a mile!

Hello Hope Chest friends,I hope you don't mind another post-op update from me!
After dinner last night, Thad and I decided to take that dreaded walk the
doctor ordered. Since we needed several things at the grocery store, we
decided to drive there and do my walking through the aisles. I figured
we may as well make the walking serve a dual purpose! I was quite sore
at first, and I could tell that I was shuffling along because I had a bad
case of static electricity. Everytime I touched a metal shelf at the
store, I got a little shock! I had to learn to pick my feet UP off the
floor! After we got home, I wasn't feeling too bad, so THEN we walked (slowly)
around the neighborhood for a mile. You know, once I got going and "hit
my stride" the pain became a lot more bearable, and I enjoyed the
leisurely stroll with my honey.Really, it's the getting up and down from bed or chair that hurts most,
and I can just about forget bending over to get anything on the floor.
Thad and the children have been a terrific help, and dinner meals brought
in by our friends have been a MAJOR blessing. I've even been able to
putter around here and there putting a few things away.My dear mother, Mary Quarrier, is flying in this afternoon from Maryland
to help us out (and just plain "love up" on her grandchildren) until
Friday. We'll all be delighted to see her!By the way, in case you didn't read all the way to the bottom of the last
Hope Chest newsletter, the next issue (March/April) will be on Thinking
Skills. I'd love to hear from you on this topic, or any other subject of
interest to home schooling families.Blessings,
Virginia
