Perspective

"No body cared for me"

NTK

Dr. Sudhakar Upadhy (36) a successful dentist from Mumbai, India entered a busy Centre Mall as a regular customer. But the shoppers where shocked to see him jumping from the third floor after having some food from level 3 of the shopping centre.  His parents say there was no reason why the father of two would have wanted to kill himself. Nevertheless the eye witnesses said that as the security guards were taking away the seriously injured Upadhy to hospital he was screaming, 'no body cared for me'!  Another attempted suicide out of depression.

Take one more incident which had shocked the Americans. No one could understand the real motive behind the campus shoot out in Virgina. But it was reported that the South Korean student was very much quiet and a troubled loner. Depression, thirst for love and delusion of violence were evident in his behaviour.

None of these incidents are isolated, there are many with depression, unfulfilled desire, want to kill themselves and even others. They are sad for various reasons. They seek love, care, sympathy and acceptance. Even among a crowd they  feel lonely and frustrated! If only we can identify them and assist them in time and help them find peace and meaning for life in Christ, not only their life will be saved, the society as a whole will benefit.

As Christians it is our privilege to be under the care and provision of our heavenly Father. We are not worried as the gentiles who are anxious about food, cloth and shelter. Matt.7:25—32. Yet there are times when the believers too have allowed themselves to be carried away by such depressive thoughts and live under tension and hopelessness. Such a life is an open defiance to Christ's words and results in disgrace to Christ and His purposes.

We must be confident and happy to instil hope and light to others through the word of God. Remember too many are there with some kind of trouble in their mind. The world needs the message of hope and peace, that can only be communicated the by the people of God.

It is our responsibility to find out 'Upadhy's and 'Cho's to counsel and enlighten them by our life and testimony.

THE GOLDEN ALTAR:  A place of enlightenment

Charles E. Wigg,TASMANIA.

Luke's Gospel begins with the story of Zacharias who was accustomed to enter the Holy place, to burn incense at the Golden Altar. It would seem that for many years he and his wife had been praying for a child, especially for a son. The years dragged by, and in spite of all their prayers and attempts to have a child, no child was conceived. But on this momentous occasion, as he was doing what he had done many times, he had a heavenly visitor, none other than the mighty angel Gabriel himself. The visit was totally unexpected, and Zacharias was filled with fear. However the first words of the heavenly messenger were, "Fear not, Zacharias; for thy prayer is heard". He then went on to reveal the plan of God, and the glorious fact that God was about to act, and to fulfil the promise that He made to Eve, on the day that they sinned.

This incident justifies our assertion that the Golden Altar is the place of enlightening. If we are in the habit of coming regularly to what the Golden Altar represents, we may expect God to unfold His purposes and His truth to us. However He does not send Gabriel to us for this purpose, but because we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and we have the completed word of God in our hands, He communicates to us by His Spirit, through His word. When at length Zacharias emerged from the Holy place, he was unable to speak, but his appearance convinced the people who were waiting there, that he had seen a vision, had a communication from God. I would suggest that if we would exercise a ministry that will; profit the people of God, then we need to come frequently to the Golden Altar.

Anecdote

Some one has to pay!

Two boys were playing cricket. In their excitement, one hit the ball so hard that it broke someone's window. They both did what boys normally do, run home! The father of one of the boys saw his son in a hurry. When asked the reason the boy replied that his ball had broken someone's window. The father told the boy that he must accompany him to apologize for the damage. The boy was hesitant but the father insisted that he must say sorry.

Upon reaching the house, the father knocked at the door and a man opened it. The father said to him, "My son broke your window and wants to know if you will forgiver him?" The man replied "I will gladly forgive him but someone has to pay for the window!" That boy learnt the lesson early in life that though forgiveness was free, it was not cheap.

Christ paid the price that God could be just and the justifier. Rom. 3:26

Worth Quote:-

Depression:-

"Before any great achievement, some measure of depression is very usual."
                                                       ---C.H. Spurgeon

"When you come to the bottom, you find God."

For Prayer & Praise:-

1.  Mission Field:   Konkan Out Reach, Maharashtra

Lord's Servants Wilson K. George and Shibu Sebastian arranged a special gospel out reach in the Konkan area  from May 14—28. Six brethren as a team worked Kudal, Sindhudurg.  The Lord in His grace blessed the efforts of gospel literature distribution and personal evangelism. Three families have come forward to know more about the Lord.

God willing they plan to go to the same area again in the month of September as a team. Pray that the seeds sown may bear much fruit.

2.  Conference:-   Maharahstra brethren family conference was conducted from May 22- 26 in Pachgini, Mahabaleshwar. About 325  believers from various parts of Maharashtra attended the conference. M/S John Kuraina, Dr. Sajan Mathew and Dr. Koshy Mathew shared the word. They had special sessions for youth and sisters. Sist. Felicity Koshy and Sist. Grace Mathew shared the word in the sisters meetings

The believers who attended the conference were greatly blessed by the ministry of the word of God. It was a time of fellowship too.

The organizers chose to take just a nominal charge as registration. It was a faith venture and the Lord honored their faith and provided all the needs.

Continue to pray the saints in Maharashtra may continue to grow in the Lord and ministries may be increased.

3. Children's Home:- BETHANY MERCY HOME –TATANAGAR –JHARKHAND

Prayers are requested for the ministry of Bethany Mercy Home Tata nagar, Jharkand. It was started in 2006 with a burden to give shelter and basic education to the children of our poor believers. At present they have eighteen children from the assemblies of Biahr, Jharkhand, Assam and Nepal.

In this mercy home these children are taught discipline, person hygiene, spiritual lessons and secular studies. With out this facility most of them would have been wandering in the villages as their parents would be in the farm.

This writer who personally visited this children's home was challenged to see the joy and zeal of these children as they sing for the Lord just before they march towards their school.

Evangelist P.M.Skariah  and family needs the prayers and as well as practical  fellowship to continue this ministry. More details can be had from:-

To ponder over

Philippians. 4:6

"Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to god; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds though Christ Jesus".
