Perspective:-

Spiritual Vision

It’s a true fact that most of us seldom consider the value of our eyesight. But the moment we face a minor difficulty with our eyes, such outlook will be changed. This is true in spiritual life too. Listen what the Lord Jesus says to the disciples, “blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear...” Matthew 13: 16, 17. He further explains the reason, “I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
What a wonderful blessing it is that He has opened our spiritual eyes. Vast majority of the people are spiritually blind. Many are the reasons for their blindness. Basically, Satan has blinded humanity that the light of the gospel of Christ many not shine on them. 2Cor 4:4. Apart from that ignorance and human tradition also have veiled the vision of many. Cf. Eph 4:18; 2Cori 3:14. In such a scenario God has graciously enabled us to see the precious truths of the word of God and even Himself. John 9:39

Value & Maintain
The Lord wants us to value this spiritual vision and make sure that we continue to see and our eyes do not become bad. Matthew 6: 23, 24. The word of God reveals that it is possible for a child of God to either lose the kind of spiritual insight once had or increase in it. Cf. Mark 8:18; Eph 1:18. In the physical realm, as we grow old, eyesight becomes dim. But in spiritual life as the days go by our spiritual vision must be more and more clear and sharp. We ought to grow in our knowledge and perception of God and His word.
Such telescopic spiritual vision was one of the outstanding features of the heroes of faith. After highlighting the faith life of some of the old Testament saints in, the writer summarizes it like this, “These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” Hebrews 11:13
By faith they saw afar off, with much assurance embraced the things hoped for and confessed. Think of Noah who could simply ignore the surroundings and saw something that no one has ever seen. It was this insight and conviction that inspired him to obey God in anticipation of the flood. All of those great men of faith had such wonderful ability to see far beyond their immediate circumstances. That was the reason why they could achieve great things by faith. They saw what others could not.

Focus ahead
That is the kind of faith and spiritual eyesight we need today. Focus not on the uncertainties and complications of the present world, but look ahead by faith. It’s the privilege of the born again child of God to have such spiritual vision. We do not need to be ignorant or confused over the present or future. The Lord wants us to see afar off and be convinced of the sure future. Cf. 2Peter
What kind of spiritual perception we have? Do we see as we ought to? Remember, the Laodicean Christians lost their sight but never knew. Reve 3:17. Two disciples on the Emmaus road had a poor spiritual insight. Though the Lord rebukes them but later opened their eyes. Luk 24:25, 31. Eli the priest in the Old Testament lost physical eyes as well as spiritual and we know the outcome of it. 1Sam 3:2.
Oh, how we ought to pray with the Psalmist, “Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” Psa 119:18. Praise God for the measure of spiritual insight we have, let us value and consider it as a blessing and privilege. Continue to trust and pray that the Lord may keep on enlightening our eyes, that we may see Him, His word and His purposes better as the days go by. Eph 1:18

Anecdote: -

Eyesight: So Amazing

For 51 years Bob Edens was blind. He couldn't see anything. His world was a black hall of sounds and smells. He felt his way through five decades of darkness. And then, he could see. A skilled surgeon performed a complicated operation and, for the first time, Bob Edens had sight.
He found it overwhelming. "I never would have dreamed that yellow is so...yellow," he exclaimed. "I don't have the words. I am amazed by yellow. But red is my favorite color. I just can't believe red. I can see the shape of the moon--and I like nothing better than seeing a jet plane flying across the sky leaving a vapor trail. And of course, sunrises and sunsets. And at night I look at the stars in the sky and the flashing light. You could never know how wonderful everything is."

Max Lucado
