“Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
Have you ever really noticed a crèche
– the “stable” part of the nativity set? One thing that stands out about a
stable is the fact that it does not have four walls. It has a roof and usually
one solid wall, with the front and sides open. If Jesus had been born in Bethlehem’s
inn, the birth would have been much more private since the room would have been
fully enclosed by four walls.
David’s tabernacle was similar - a
tent of meeting that covered the Ark of the Covenant yet was open to everyone
who wanted to worship Jehovah. God intended it that way, and I believe Jesus’
birth in a stable rather than the inn was equally ordained.
Why is that important? “Come unto
Me, all…” In other words, the door is open. Jesus invites us to come sit at His
feet. He’s available. He is listening for the very mention of His name. All we
have to do is come to Him. The door is open and you’re invited. To subscribe: <adevotionalgroup-subscribe@welovegod.org>
