Talked to Jan's sister this afternoon for an update. Just in the last couple of days, Jan's pain has increased so much that she can't pull up her pants or put tops on over her head. A doctor friend has explained to the sister that the tumors in Jan's lungs are pressing on some nerve that has to do with her voice so her voice won't be returning. He also said that the tumors are basically using all her calories so that is why she is weakening and losing more weight. I think hospice ordered a potty chair to go beside her bed, but she may have refused it. Thankfully, her oldest son has parked his travel trailer beside her house and will care for her every afternoon next week. I'm so glad he is going to have time with his mom. Her sister said Jan was told she would have three months to live without additional chemo, and that amount of time has now passed. That may explain why she is now going downhill so rapidly. From what I've heard, Jan's husband is not handling things well. Prayers are appreciated. Lisa NM
