Julie have you ever thought of making a really long split skirt that you
can drawstring the legs on? I saw something like this in one of museums I
visited once. It was a picture of a victorian type lady in a long split
skirt. When they did outdoors woods type things they would tie the bottoms
close to their legs with what looked like a leather string. I would think
you could do just as well with a drawstring at the bottom. It would give
you the mobility you need for climbing underneath houses. Just let out the
drawstring when you come back out. Make the drawstring hidden in the hem.
Then you'd be back in a skirt again.

I remember listening to a James Herriot tape and he mentioned that the
mailman always wore bike straps that clip to your pant legs before entering
a particular residence because it was so flea infested. Apparently they
must make something like that. I envisioned something like elastic with
clips on the end. That might work well too. This guys folded his pant legs
tight at the bottoms and then the straps held in place.......just my two
cents....Deanna
