Well I guess Naomi and I both did some growing and bonding last night. I thought she knew that when it got dark, she was to come home from her friend's houses. She left to go play after dinner around 6. At 8, I went looking for her and couldnt find her. She finally came home at 9...after I had been on my knees and crying and calling around for her. Just shortly before I called the police, I went looking one more time...in an area I hadn't gone and met her coming home. Told her to go home, apologize to our neighbor Tammy and we would have a talk. She was on her bike, I walked. After getting in the house, I called our pastor back to report she was safe and sound and my best friend also. Then Naomi and I sat down and had a good talk. I explained that when it got dark, she should come home. She didnt know that apparently and she was at a friends house that I didnt know about. I told her to give me her friend's names, phone numbers, etc so I can go with her to check them out from now on before I give her any okay to go over there. She has also been told that she is grounded from going anywhere as of last night until next friday. She can only ride her bike back and forth to school and cannot go further than the yard (front or back) She can play with her friends in our yard...but cannot go to their houses. She has also been informed that from now on, when its time to check in to call using the relay service since she does know how to use that...and if the phone is busy here, to come home and check in. I informed her she is my only child at home now and I'm a wee bit more protective since I lost her sister at the age of 6 to her adopted father...therefore she needs to be a bit more considerate. I also told her that I am NOT keeping her in a prison, just asking that she would follow my rules or face the consequences. She knows now she is to be home at dark or 7:30 whichever is earlier. My heart aches for the discipline I must mete out but rejoices that she is safe at home once again.Vaughnde Edwards
