Luke 12:35 - 48

Posted by: pastorbob <pastorbob@...>

Some rough notes….an outline modified from a Sermon Seed by Pastor Jack Peters and some states.  Message will probably end up as a "let 'er rip" without using notes much

September 11              (9-11)              Luke 12:35 - 48

Luke 12:35-48 "Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks.

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.

If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants!

But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into.

You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Peter said, "Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?"  And the Lord said,

"Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?

Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes.  Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

But if that servant says to himself, 'My master is delayed in coming,' and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will comes on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful.

And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive ax severe beating.

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating.

Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more."

Casualties of the September 11 attacks. The September 11 attacks killed 2,996 people and injured more than 6,000 others. These immediate deaths included 265 on the four planes, 2,606 in the World Trade Center and in the surrounding area, and 125 at the Pentagon.

While numbers vary it is clear that more than 1,400 9-11 rescue workers have perished from 9-11 related issues.

2,381 American Military Members died in the war on terror from 2001 – 2015.

Every day 22 veterans commit suicide.

On September 11th, 2001 God called many, many people home.

They were not expecting that day to be any different than any other day.

But it was a much different day!

For those working in the towers.

For those working in the pentagon.

For those working on and traveling in the 3 airframes used for terror.

For the thousands upon thousands of emergency responders.

For those waiting on flights.

For our entire country

For the World.

WE WERE NOT READY!

We were caught off guard and unsuspecting!

If we HAD KNOWN we would never had let any planes fly that day.

We would have moved sooner.

But we were not ready!

One day Christ will return for you.

The MASTER is coming back to His earthly home.

Are you ready?

On 9-11 there was a group of people on United Airlines flight that were not ready BUT when they saw what was happening and the IMMENENCE of their situation, they became ready QUICKLY and sprung into action.

"Lets Roll"

There were emergency responders all across our country that were ready, but not expecting anything on the scale of what happened that day.  But, when the alarms sounded – THEY ROLLED!  And more than 462 emergency responders died running into the danger.

America was not ready for what happened that day.

Christians, we MUST BE READY!

Ready to spring into action as needed to be MINISTERS OF RECONCILIATION AND HOPE!

Ready to ROLL INTO ACTION to feed and care for the hurting.

Always being found prepared for whatever God may allow.

Always being found faithful TO GOD ALMIGHTY!

Always being good stewards of what we have been given!

Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more."
