August 6 Jesus Wept/Stop making Christ Cry Luke 19:41 – 44
Luke 19:41-44 "And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, "Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation." ESV
This scripture brings out great emotion in me because it speaks not only of then and what would happen in Jerusalem, but it also speaks of now; here…us.
Replace Jerusalem with America.
Replace Jerusalem with your State
Replace Jerusalem with your Family
Replace Jerusalem with You.
I see US…the USA…the countries of the World….Our families….our Communities….our Cities….US…
How Jesus must be weeping for our cities today!
- Jesus Draws Near
Jesus paused here on the way to Calvary and surveyed the city before Him, and He wept.
He wept because He knew their need for Him; for healing, for Hope, for Help and for Righteousness.
He wept because He knew every heart and every need; and He knew the rejection He would face and the disaster that awaited the people in the city because of their rejection of the Messiah.
The Deliver they were singing songs in anticipation of was drawing near, and they would not believe in Him.
- Jesus Wept.
For many, many…MOST people alive today, I fear Jesus has drawn near, but has been rejected.
Rejected by the people
Rejected by the majority
Rejected by the politicians
Rejected by many of the Religious elitists
Rejected
We as a people and as a country need to know the things that make for peace; because we certainly do not see it in our world today.
James 3:17-18 "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace." ESV
Romans 14:17-19 "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding." ESV
Our Country…our community…does not know peace because we have rejected Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
We have enemies all around us, attack is either imminent or ongoing and we REFUSE to return to God….LOST AND BELIEVERS alike!
We believers have become so CONFORMED to the world, molded by its dark morality and expectations, that we no longer resemble a people of faith OR follow Christ in true obedience.
One day it will be too late. The opportunity to repent will have come and gone; and it was rejected. All that will be left is pain, destruction and hopelessness.
They will soon be destroyed. Our earthly empires crushed so thoroughly that nothing is left standing.
They will be caught "unaware" even though the truth is clearly revealed.
We will become BROKEN without a BREAKTHROUGH!
Christ weeps for us because we are so rotten, backslidden, lost, wandering and poor in spirit.
And He is returning soon, perhaps even now He is approaching our cities; and He is weeping!
- It is NOT too late for us….US
It is time we hear His tears and experience His Love and REPENT of our sins, returning to Him to receive the BREAKTHROUGH He has promised.
What is holding YOU back?
Not God, He is clearly calling you to a deep healing relationship!
You and your reliance and submission to FLESH and the WORLD is what is holding you back.
Break THROUGH the hard shell of self and release your heart to God and RECEIVE!
