12 24                     those who came

Luke 2:8-20 "That night some shepherds were in the fields outside the village, guarding their flocks of sheep.  Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them. They were terribly frightened, but the angel reassured them. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news of great joy for everyone!  The Savior — yes, the Messiah, the Lord — has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David! And this is how you will recognize him: You will find a baby lying in a manger, wrapped snugly in strips of cloth!" Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others — the armies of heaven — praising God: "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors."  When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, "Come on, let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."  They ran to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger.  Then the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.  All who heard the shepherds' story were astonished, but Mary quietly treasured these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their fields and flocks, glorifying and praising God for what the angels had told them, and because they had seen the child, just as the angel had said."   NLT

Who came to Jesus

  1. Mary and Joseph
    1. They carried Him
    2. They faced serious gossip, hurt and the worst of humanity in their faithful response to God
  2. The Angels
    1. Full of glory and radiance
    2. Announcing the birth of the Messiah
    3. Praising God
  3. The Shepherds
    1. Poor and Hard working
    2. Stinky and dirty
    3. Isolated
  4. Townsfolk
    1. We understand that this much commotion and a baby in a barn manger would have certainly drew a few "looky loos"
  5. Simeon – A righteous man filled with the Holy Spirit who had been anxiously awaiting the coming Messiah and the rescue of Israel.
  6. Anna, a prophet, who had devoted herself to God and His Work day and night for decades

Several came to the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ

It was not in an especially private locale

Hospitals tightly regulate and control who can be in the delivery room, have access to the new baby and certainly who can hold the child.  Barcodes, alarms, pictures, feet prints, and controlled access are just a few of these controls.

Jesus was born in a barn.  Door was probably wide open and ANYONE could come and see the NEWBORN KING

In reality, access to Jesus is still unlimited and uncontrolled.

1 Timothy 2:1-6a "I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. As you make your requests, plead for God's mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone."  NLT

GRACE alone through FAITH alone in CHRIST alone.

Today, no door is closed to you.

Today, the Arms of Christ reach out for you

Today you can come, Just as you are.

John 6:35-40 "Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me will never thirst.  But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me.  However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.  For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what I want.  And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the last day.  40 For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life — that I should raise them at the last day."  NLT
