This Sunday we are having a baby dedication service (actually for the
parents - dedicating themselves to raise their child in a Christian
home) so the group wanted to do a couple songs aimed more at the kids.
One of them is Jesus Loves Me which we do as a full blown rocker. The
other is He's Got The Whole World In His Hands. It is a whole 2 chords.
Ran through it doing it straight. The singers were happy with it. The
bass player and I looked at each other a wee bit bored. He said to me we
ought to do this as a reggae song, and off he went playing it that way.
I joined in and once the singers realized what we were doing they jumped
in. It was a lot of fun. It is interesting how you can make a little
adjustment and take a boring song and make it fun. We shall see if the
congregation agrees.Peace
