Mars correction, Essay course endorsement & Home School T-Shirts

Dear Hope Chest friends,
I have heard from several of you that the information I forwarded about Mars was correct in 2003, not in 2005. Mars WILL be closer this year, but in October, and will not appear quite as large as in August 2003. I have not checked out any of these web links except for the Snopes one, but here are some that readers sent in:

Also, a Hope Chest reader wanted to add her praise to Gwen Simmons' essay writing course:
I wanted to add my endorsement to Gwen's course. Katherine (17) just wrote her last essay for Gwen. I am an English major and many of my friends asked why I needed someone else to teach my child to write. I didn't.. but what my child needed was an objective eye.... someone who could encourage and point out mistakes gently. Sometimes kids take things better from someone else than from mom! Also, I felt Katherine's writing skills were fine, but it helped me to have someone else look at them and polish up anything I missed. Gwen has been super! And Katherine has learned and loved it! I feel certain Luke (13) will take this course at some point in the future. Barb Campbell in MS
