midi question

I've got a soundblaster live value soundcard in my computer. It is a very
good soundcard for playing mp3 files and things like that, but the midi
generator still lacks some to be desired. I have Band in a Box, and I want
to use that to generate some midi tracks for conversion to mp3 for backing
tracks. But I hate the my midi generator sounds right now. Is there a
inexpensive (preferably free) software or hardware solution?
