Ministry in Malawi and Mozambique

Posted by: hopechestnews <hopechestnews@...>

Dear Hope Chest friends,

A few days ago I received a letter from Pastor Headson Makazinga in Malawi, which he wrote in July.  I thought you all might be interested to read it, since this is where the proceeds from the Learner's Journals go.  (I shipped out all of the book orders yesterday.  Thank you all.  I think there will be about $100 sent to Malawi this time.)  I have changed some of the grammar and punctuation in his letter to make it a little more readable for you.

Please note in the letter that Pastor Makazinga broke his left arm and some of his fingers in June, and spent 10 days in the hospital.  His cast is coming off today.  Please pray for complete healing.  He is not a young man -- he is in his 60s and has several children (some of them still quite young) and grandchildren.  Yet he stays faithful to the task.  He WALKS all over southern Malawi and neighboring Mozambique to oversee more than a dozen churches in his care, including countless widows and orphans.  Friends, he and his wife REALLY need good sturdy mountain bikes to make their work more effective.  Each would cost about $250.   A case of 20 Bibles costs about $60.  Hymnals are even less.  My cost to print and ship Chichewa language tracts is about $70 per 500 copies for the front and back of regular size paper.  (I don't have the exact figures in front of me; I may be off on this.)  If anyone would like to offer free printing, this would be a huge blessing to me.  Please let me know if you would like to help in any of these ways.

To my knowledge, Thad and I are the only foreign aid that Pastor Makazinga has.  We can't do it ourselves.  We need your help.  If any of you would like to bless this ministry, which is in a region suffering from devastating famine and AIDS, please send a cashier's check to our brother at:

Dear precious and beloved sister Virginia,

Shalom to you and to your husband Thad always, and greetings to you with rich love from Malawi, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  I hope the Lord is taking care of you and the whole family.

We are all fine both physically and spiritually.  The Lord is always taking care of all of us; indeed we are doing very well in Christ.  I think it is a long time since I wrote to you.   I was very busy going up and fro for the Lord's work in so many areas of Malawi and Mozambique.  As of now, the ministry is expanding in so many areas so I have to go and encourage the hungry people who are in need of the word of God; indeed I am always on the way spreading the gospel to the lost people.  And also we are going forward with the annual programme.

On 23rd June I was in Mozambique for the conference.  It was so good to be with the brothers and sisters, and we had a very good time, and the Lord blessed the conference.  Many people came to know the Lord Jesus Christ in the majority gathering.  On 14th July 2006 the women were with their women's conference at Makoko, and of course the meeting was so good and plenty of women came to the meeting.  After the women's meeting we are waiting to have another revival meeting at Nkhumbianga; this is in Mozambique.  This meeting will be on 27th and 28th July.  On 25th August we are going to hold another conference at Sapinda for the inauguration.  In all I would like to ask you again for the tracts; if you have them please try to send me some more.  It is a great help to the new babies in Christ and people like them; people always are asking me more about the tracts.

Bad news: It was on 11th June my arm was injured and two of my fingers got out from the place and some of the bones were broken and I have been in the hospital for ten days and now the doctors cover my left arm with the plaster bandage and the bandage will be taken out on 8th August and check the arm if it is okay.  Even though it is like that I am still on the way for the Lord's work.  I have hope and do believe that the Lord will touch my arm and it will be healed.

As I ask you that we want you to come to Malawi, and of course it sounds that you have a heart of coming to Malawi but the problem is finance.  Because of that we are always praying for you that the Lord, the owner of everything, should provide, that otherwise next year God should open the ways of Malawi for you to come and give us encouragement, especially our wives.  And also we ask you if you have a friend that wants to come with you, you can do so.  It will be good for us to have you here in Malawi and Mozambique.

Waiting to hear from you soon.
Headson Makazinga
