More on Mommy Culture Wars and feminism

Posted by: homenews <homenews@...>

Dear Hope Chest readers,

After I sent out a brief commentary and request for input yesterday, one of our very kind readers (thanks Tammy Alvarez!) sent a link to today's Focus on the Family radio broadcast.  In this broadcast, "Attack on Motherhood", Al Mohler responds to charges made on the ABC News web site and in American Prospect magazine by law professor Linda Hirshman.  She claims that stay-at-home moms are a detriment to society, not just themselves.  Oh my!  Not only are we ruining ourselves, but our children, and we're cheating society out of our skills and education!  Ack!  Gasp!  Why am I not surprised?

Here is the link to the Focus on the Family  page.  You can listen to the broadcast on-line, as well as read many other interesting articles on the subject of stay-at-home moms and feminism.

The aforementioned Al Mohler, who is president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be one of the speakers at the New Attitude singles conference that I mentioned recently.  He has spoken at New Attitude in the past, and from what I understand, made a huge impression on those who heard him.  http://www.newattitude.org/

And finally, a word from our Gracious God in Proverbs 31:25-31 (ESV):

25 Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.

Blessings,
Virginia Knowles
