MY NAME WAS USED
by J. Randal Matheny

My name was used among friends to steal,
With artful mail by a shameless thief;
Compassion made a false appeal,
For selfish gain, and caused me grief.

But my discomfort is small compared
To the seeing Lord in holy pain,
At men of fists, with nostrils flared,
Who rail or take his name in vain.
