Posted by: homenews <homenews@...>

Dear Hope Chest readers,

Gwen Simmons has just announced a new e-mail writing course to prepare
students for the new SAT and ACT tests.   I have always highly
recommended her Write On and Write On Again courses, and I know this one
will be great, too!

Blessings,

Write On!  presents…

Easy Essays
A practical approach to writing excellent essays

Thank you for your interest in EASY ESSAYS.  The purpose of this course is two-fold:  to develop a natural and confident ability in general essay-writing , and to prepare students for the new essay-writing
section of the ACT and SAT college tests.
EASY ESSAYS is a practical, step-by-step guide to writing essays.  True to the proven WRITE ON! teaching style, EASY ESSAYS is presented with a relaxed approach, providing practical instruction in
skills and gentle, personalized critiques of the student’s writing.

No impersonal workbooks.  No laborious, tearful writing sessions.  No insecurity on the part of the parent regarding instruction. Easy Essays  provides the instructor, the lessons, and the personal
attention needed to make your student a confident and successful essay-writer.

·        Fifteen week course (one semester)
·        E-mail and/or fax correspondence
·        Easy-to-follow exercises in paragraphing
·        Easy-to-follow exercises in writing a thesis statement
·        Step-by-step development of INTRO, BODY, and CONCLUSION
·        Additional tips for successful writing
·        Personal critique of student’s writing from first draft to final copy.
·        Goal of completing three essays
·        Essay samples provided
·        Grades 7-12
·        Excellent preparation for the new ACT/SAT essay-writing section

HOW IT WORKS:   The instructor will send all work through e-mail at the beginning of the course.  The reason to send it all at once is so that each student may work at his/her own pace and not have to wait for the group in order to proceed.  So, while the course has a limit of 15 weeks total, the student may work at his/her own pace WITHIN that 15 weeks.   Included are several exercises which go along with the instructional information provided.  These exercises are NOT turned in to the instructor.  They are simply for practice, yet necessary.  What WILL be turned in to the instructor are the actual essays.  From first draft to final copy, the student and instructor will correspond regarding the content and structure of the essay.   This may be done through e-mail or through fax, depending on the preference of the student/parent.  Those who want to use fax correspondence will need to state that at the beginning of the course.  Otherwise, the student will submit writing to the instructor through e-mail and the instructor will return the critiqued work through regular mail.  Either method will work very well.

While EASY ESSAYS is designed for grades 7-12, the instructor has given particular attention to designing the course for preparation for the new essay-writing section of the ACT/SAT college tests.  Essay assignments are patterned after the actual format of the college test and the final essay will even be timed and hand-written in order to be a true practice test.  After completing this course, students should be well-prepared for the college essay-writing section of the ACT/SAT.  For students who are not preparing for the ACT/SAT, being timed and hand-writing will be optional.  All students, however, will be taken through three complete essays.

ENROLLMENT INFO:  This course is offered three times per year.  The summer course begins the second week of May.  The fall course begins the second week of September.  The spring course begins the second week of January.  Space is limited, so the sooner you enroll, the better your chances of being included.  Space is filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
