Newly formed (and evolving) Quilcene group

I'd just like to say thank you for all your prayers concerning the
Quilcene group's first meeting (and my first AM job in many years). The
first meeting was both disappointing and encouraging at the same time.
The meeting was for all of the kids from my Sunday School class. For
some reason that I can't quite figure out, I very foolishly scheduled
the meeting for January 1st - the morning AFTER New Year's Eve. Needless
to say, very few kids showed up (two, in fact).
The two kids that did show up, however, were EXTREMELY excited about
DR after some patient explaining on my part as we played. It was a boy
and a girl that showed up, and I was rather impressed by the way that
they worked together (even though the boy's character - Rune, was
constantly calling his partner "my sweetness", giving marriage
proposals, and other irritating sweet nothings). Hoo boy, did that make
for some interesting role-playing! 🙂
The mother that I mentioned who wanted to watch us play didn't show
up either. I was rather relieved at this only because I think it would
have made the kids nervous and inhibited as well as the AM. Now that I
am a little more confident, I don't think it'll be a problem having
parents watch in the future.
All in all, we did not get very far on the Lightraider Test (only to
the Cave Troll encounter). But, the kids had SO much fun, and were SO
enthusiastic about DR, that this really didn't matter. They both learned
some very deep truths from the simple allegory - even I was surprised! I
believe that the "DR bug" is catching, and these two kids will carry it
to their friends. PLEASE PRAY TO THIS END!! Thanks again, people.
