Dear Hope Chest friends,

Here are a few updates from the Knowles family!   As you can see, I am continuing my non-HTML format to save file space.

Blessings,

Hope Chest Web Site Under Renovation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope Chest reader Susie Fleenor, who is a talented web designer, has hosted the Hope Chest web site on her server for the past couple of years as a gift to all of us.  She is in the process of updating the site.  I'll keep you posted on the progress, and let you know when the new pages will be officially on-line.  For now, I am providing the link to the Resources page below so that I can get started with this year's Learner's Journal orders!
Time to Order Learner's Journals!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am ready to start accepting orders for the Learner's Journal lesson planner and resource log!  This is our 5th or 6th year of publishing it -- can you imagine?   As always, proceeds from the Learner's Journal go toward mission projects.  This year, the recipient will again be Pastor Headson Makazinga in Nsanje, Malawi for Bible distribution, orphan care and outreach conferences.

I would like to have all orders in by July 12 (a week from today) so I can tell Digital Printing what colors I need and get them shipped by July 20.  I know this is tight timing, but I want this all to be done before baby #10 makes her debut.  (Otherwise, you'll have to wait until late August!)  If you plan to order, let me know your color choices as soon as possible BY E-MAIL so I can start planning.  If you send an order by snail mail, please include your e-mail address so I can contact you.

You are welcome to order my other two books at the same time. In fact, there is a $1 per book discount when you order any 3 books (mix and match).   I have a few copies of The Real Life Home School Mom in stock, but I will be reprinting Common Sense Excellence at the same time as The Learner's Journal.

Here is the link for resource orders:

You can click on the link, and then on the Learner's Journal link to see page layouts.  Ordering instructions for checks and PayPal are at the bottom of the Resources page.  Be patient while the pages load, and you'll see a picture of all of the book covers, too!  Also, when you click on the individual book  pages, it may give you a half-size version of the web page.  To get around this, hit the minimize button (bar) and then the maximize button (box) at the top right of that window.  We'll get these kinks worked out yet!

Virginia's Hope Chest Archive Blog Site
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am putting archives of selected Hope Chest articles onto a blog site.  I may also add some extra non-Hope Chest goodies along the way, so check often!  Right now, I have articles since December 2004, not including those written by other people or those with product recommendations.  Please let your friends know about this!
Here's the link!
By the way, any home schooler can set up a free blog here!  It's fun -- and a great creative outlet!  Or, you can just read what other moms have written and get a fresh perspective.  The blog site is operated by The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.
What's Up in the Next Hope Chest Issue?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next Hope Chest issue will be about teaching children to worship God from the heart.  Please send your ideas on this topic as soon as possible, because I'd like to send it out around the time that baby is born!

Baby News
~~~~~~~~~
Good news!  Midwife Sandy Williamson told me today that baby has turned back to head-down position.  She might STILL turn head-up again, but Sandy assured me that they can even turn her back down as late as the morning of our induction.  I'm taking the Nature's Sunshine 5-W herbal combination, as I have for the past several pregnancies.  This may help tighten things up in the uterus so she won't stray too far!  We have tentatively scheduled D-Day for Monday, July 25.  That's less than three weeks away!
Bolivia News
~~~~~~~~~~~

My daughter Julia arrived home on Saturday night, bubbling with tales of her exciting experiences serving in southern Bolivia with our church's Mission:X team.  She actually LOVED the harrowing bus rides on the narrow, winding, treacherous mountain roads!  I'll let her tell you more about it later, but wanted to let you know she made it home safely, and then she never even got sick.  (Several other team members did.)  She did get a couple of cactus scratches while climbing a steep mountain, though!

Mary's outreach team in La Paz has been extremely busy, so we haven't heard much from her, though she did take the time to send Micah an e-card for his 6th birthday on Saturday.  Julia saw her on Friday night and said Mary was having a wonderful time!  I don't think Mary has gotten sick either!

Mary will arrive home with tomorrow night.  Please pray traveling mercies for her!  I believe that there is a strong tropical storm (Dennis) brewing in the path between South America and Florida right now -- and it may even turn into a hurricane later this week!  I am praying that this storm will NOT disrupt the Miami Mission:X outreach team, which is scheduled for Thursday to Sunday!  (They will be serving in public outreach with Palm Vista Community Church.  None of my kids are on the Miami team, but I do know many teens in our church who are.)
