I plan to send out the January issue of Hope Chest within a few days. The theme for the next several issues is "The Essence of Excellence in Education." If you have anything you would like to say on this issue's specific topic of raising the educational standard in our own homes, please send it as soon as possible.

On January 19-20, our church, Metro Life, is presenting the Contending 07 worldview conference for parents and their teens. It is inspired by the appeal given in Jude 3, "Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints."

Brent Detwiler, a pastor from North Carolina who oversees the southeast region for the Sovereign Grace Ministries group of churches, is leading the conference. I have heard Brent speak on numerous occasions, and been blessed every time. He will present six sessions of teaching, each designed to provide a solid biblical foundation to these important doctrines:

Seven Things You Must Know About the Bible

Is Jesus Really the Only Savior?

Is Jesus Really God Incarnate?

Counterfeit Claims

Proclaiming the Unknown God.

All men and women, ages 13 and up, are invited to attend. You don't have to be a member of Metro Life. This conference is especially designed to help parents face the common challenges in preparing teens for the objections, persecution and doubts they are, or will be, facing. You and your teens will benefit immensely from this diligent study of Scripture.

Registration Cost: $15 (this price goes up after Friday, January 12)
