Hello Hope Chest friends,Some of our readers did not get part 3, so I am resending it in a separate message. I think I may have just sent it to myself instead of to the list a few days ago. Mommy brain!I would also love to see your feedback on this issue of the Hope Chest. Drop me a note and tell me what you thought of it! Just remember to not include the text of this message in your reply.I've already heard from several readers, including Margaret in New Zealand and Mandy in Zimbabwe (who says that things really are that bad in Africa as I described in part 2!). Here are some other thoughts/questions/recommendations from our readers:Amanda says, "I wondered if you know of any moms whose daughters have been called up to go to a mission field, perhaps as a missionary's wife. Jasmine (almost 14) has felt this calling on her life, and I'm struggling with how to prepare her for it, and would love to communicate with others who have recently gone down a similar path. I can see the Lord using Jasmine mightily as she has such a heart." (Contact Amanda at [email protected])Sharon Frankel suggests, "Readers may like to know that they can get a free audio tape of Kirk Cameron's teaching on this and Ray Comfort, from Firefighters for Christ. They also have a great selection of other teaching tapes, Bible studies, etc. Their web site is: www.firefighters.org This is a wonderful ministry!!"
If anyone is selling used Chalkdust Algebra I videos, please contact Marianne at [email protected]. (She actually asked me this a month ago, so she may have found them already.)Margaret in New Zealand writes, "Just a quick note to thank you, in particular for this issue of Hope Chest. It was particularly interesting to me, especially as it was along the lines I have been seeking the Lord about. Thanks so much for all the effort you put into not only this issue, but each one of them. I know how difficult it is to find such time when you have so many little ones."Mandy from Zimbabwe reports, "I have been touched to see your interest in missions and churches in Africa. As a 'white' African, born and bred in Zimbabwe, (north of South Africa), I can vouch for the fact that most rural, indigenous Africans are extremely poor, lacking even the basic things. This has been exacerbated by our collapsing economy, (for political reasons) which has seen most of our basic commodities, such as wheat (therefore flour and bread), maize meal, cooking oil, margarine, sugar, fuel for our vehicles, and many other things becoming extremely scarce, though black market trading abounds!! As a people, though, they are very open to God's word. We as a family, we have been through some trying times, though somewhat different to yours! We have seen most of our friends and family leave for
greener pastures over the last couple of years, mainly due to the collapsing economy, and the fact that we are no longer living in a secure environment. Our Police Force is ineffectual most of the time, and our health system is in a very bad way. Education (even private) is not what it used to be." Mandy's family is attempting to emigrate to Australia.Angela says, "Thank you for your look into your family. I read your e-mails and think, "Wow, I wish I could have such a spiritual and "perfect" life with my two children." I have to remember God uses each of us in different ways."Actually, our life is not all spiritual and very far from perfect! Keep in mind that as I write, I must use much discretion to protect the privacy of my family. It is rare that I will share anything about my children's bad behavior beyond cute toddler mischief. Speaking in very general terms, we are a feisty and messy bunch here (for starters), and I'm really glad that walls don't talk! It's a good thing that we serve a merciful and forgiving God.Blessings,Virginia Knowles
