HI, We can not turn the outside light off at night due to security reasons. The sherrif down the road suggested to us that we keep it on at night.
We do use the dryer due to convenience reasons. Maybe next summer. In northern MN I personally wouldn't even consider using a clothesline in the winter.
I personally don't think we have too many clothes. Maybe I don't understand, they get changed everyday anyways so there is the daily clothes to wash. So to the amount of clothes we have?? I don't understand. The bedsheets get washed at least once a week. I wash all the rugs in the house once a week. We all shower every day. Our fridge does get opened a lot due to 2 teenage boys in the house ! 🙂 LOL We really don't have many lights on in the house at all. One light goes on in the kitchen and one in the bedroom at night, the kids are rarely in their rooms so they don't mess with the lights, and the bird room (which has full spectrum lighting in it for their health), the birds use more light than we do! Their lights have to be on for 12 hours a day. I have lights in the barn at night for security reasons also and to keep them chickens warm. The light on our house is a sensor light that only comes on when something gets in it's eye...or a leaf blows by!! LOL Are we that different than most??? (besides the parrots)
I do envy those of you who can live more simply than we do, I am striving for it. Our problem is our choices. We will get their someday. We do live more simply than most people we know. But I see we have a long way to go.
Love and blessings, Julie
