[PRAYER] Moving back to Oz

From: pwsharp@gmail.com'Erewegoagain! It's with mixed feelings my wife and I find ourselves
departing for Oz later in just over 2 weeks. All was approved through
work (IBM) for my conversion from contractor to permanent employee after
3+ months of (stuff). We headed off to the US Embassy in Ottawa, ON, for
visa renewal appointment a few weeks ago (9/11) with all the requisite
paperwork, petitions, etc. We had a fun trip driving north through WI &
MI into Canada at Sault Ste Marie, Manatoulin Island & ferry across Lake
Huron to Tobermory on the Bruce peninsular. We worked our way over to
Ottawa then back through Kingston, Toronto, Niagara, London, back into
US at Sarnia/Port Huron & back home, seeing all 5 Great Lakes along the
way. We also caught up with Steve Rolfe in London, ON, and with Sherry
Crann out in bean/beet fields 🙂Everything went smoothly on our part, except ... Same day after our visa
applications were accepted (& old visas cancelled), a call from work
said IBM could not proceed with employing me at this time: Could I
possibly remain as a contractor?! After diligently doing all we'd agreed
to in good faith, well we now have no choice but to return in haste to
Australia. We thought we'd be here at least another couple of years
(duration of the renewed work visa), but God obviously has other plans
for us!Irony of ironies, our son & his wife are nearing the end of a few weeks'
vacation in US & Canada & will visit here next week for a week: He's had
some interviews with a couple of IT companies while in NY (follow on
interviews from online interviews already had over recent weeks/months)
& has been offered work there! We had been looking forward to a season
with some family relatively close by, and now we're returning to Oz
while they'll be making plans to come back here for their own work
adventure in the new year! I guess we may come back there for a brief
visit, but that's all.So long, and thanks for all the (bass) fish!
