I've been posting this all over Facebook, but in case you haven't seen it:My good friend, Scott Burnett, suffered a spontaneous cardiac arrest Monday evening. A truly scary thing- he had gone jogging near his home in Green Lake (a suburb of Seattle) and was found by a stranger, lying in the middle of the trail. The stranger started administering CPR and called 911 and stayed with Scott until the paramedics arrived. The stranger left, and no one can find them- REALLY weird. The paramedics determined that Scott was in asystole, and defibrillated him and got enough of a rhythm that they could transport him to Virginia Mason Hospital in downtown Seattle. He was able to breathe on his own, and his vitals stabilized, but he would not wake up. Fearing a brain injury, they put him on a ventilator (for breathing assistance), induced a coma and started hypothermia treatments to slow his metabolism down. That same evening, they found that his pupils were reacting to light and his kidney function was good- that's a very good sign- but he had not regained consciousness. Today, he remains in the same condition, although they have started the warming up procedure to try and wake him.Scott is 56 and in terrific physical shape, and that should help him greatly in his recovery. On a personal note, Scott is very much responsible for me getting into the Seattle music scene when I first moved here. We played together many, many times and he is one of my all-time favorite guitarists- but more than that, he is an absolute treasure of a human being. He hired me for his company, Dark Horse Media, back in the 90's for doing bass work, writing tunes, the occasional video game and some production work and introduced me to many, many players here in Seattle. If you want to see a video of my friend and I playing together, here's a concert we did together about 4 years ago with our mutual friend, Kelly Carpenter (who wrote "Hold Me Close To You" among others) and his CD release party.PLEASE be in prayer for Scott and Hilary Burnett during this extremely trying time.--
