Prayer Request for a friend

Good afternoon, Sisters,
A dear friend of my husband and I has been in remission from bone cancer for a couple of years. They have just learned the cancer is back, possibly in multiple sites. This man and his wife are sort of substitute parents for me, as my own parents are with the Lord. They are trying different medication, but he is very weak, and the side effects are strong.
Please pray for healing, freedom from pain, and peace.
Do you remember my asking for prayer for our church? This man is considered to be the leader of the conservatives. I don't think it is coincidence that this is happening now. He took a strong stand against the false teachings, as we did.
Our cleansing and recommitment service is Friday night. We have seen an escalation in the number and severity of attacks. Please keep our church in prayer for protection and cleansing.
