Precious and Powerful

Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, Ascribe
to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Worship
the Lord in the splendor of His holiness. Psalm 29:1-2 NIV
If I were to ask you to name the three most
precious things you have, what would your list include? A family heirloom? A
prized collection? Your grandchildren?
What would you say are the three most powerful
things you have? A sportscar? A jet? A vision?
We could perhaps name many things, but
through the eyes of eternity, there are none more powerful than these three:
the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus, and your worship.
Philippians 2:9-11 says that God has given
Jesus a name that is above every name, and things in heaven, things on earth
and things under the earth must bow their knee to the name of Jesus. When you
pray, be intentional about praying in Jesus’ name. There is power in that precious
name.
Hebrews 9:12-14 says that the blood of
Jesus has purchased our redemption and cleansed us from dead works to serve the
living God. His blood speaks (Hebrews 12:24), it cleanses us from sin (1 John
1:7), and it was the purchase price of a new covenant between God and man (Mathew
26:28; John 3:53-56). When the enemy comes against you, plead the blood.
In Matthew 4:9, the devil offered Jesus the
kingdoms of this world in exchange for His worship. He is looking for your
worship, too. God is also looking for your worship (John 4:23). While we might never bow our knee to an idol, two questions remain: Are we more
impressed with the works of evil than the power of God? When the Son of Man
comes again, will He find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:7-8)
The enemy (Satan and all his forces) fears
the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus because Jesus solidly defeated him at
Calvary and will utterly defeat him at the end of the age (1 Corinthians 2:7-8;
Revelation 19:19-21). And he fears a believer who stands on the authority of Jesus’
name and His blood and whose heart is sold out in absolute worship to Jehovah, the
living God. These three are most
precious and most powerful. To subscribe: <adevotionalgroup-subscribe@welovegod.org>
