Principles of Effective Prayer - Part 6

(This will likely be the last installment in the prayer series - at least for a while.)
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Mark 11:23 (KJV)
I heard about a church that had a large hill on their property. They needed this space to expand their building, but didn't have the resources to remove the hill. They began to pray together in unity, speaking to the mountain and commanding it to move in Jesus' name. As I understand it, after a couple of months of consistent prayer, a construction company knocked on their door. They were working on a site a few miles away and needed dirt - lots of dirt. They asked if they could purchase the hill on the church's property and bring their equipment in to haul it off. The mountain was moved, there was no cost to the church, and the money paid by the construction company for the dirt took care of the church's building fund!
A few months ago, I faced a difficult situation in my own life. The Holy Spirit revealed the applicable promise and I claimed it. Yet for four days, I was bombarded with fear. It was almost like a large monkey was sitting on my shoulders, clinging tightly to my head. In reality, it was an attack of the enemy designed to keep me from standing in faith. The fifth day, the entire weight of the matter suddenly lifted and I knew immediately that my mom had been praying for me. Thank God for a praying mom! I was able then to proclaim the promise God had given me and command the circumstances to line up with it, and one by one, they started falling into place. Praise God! At this writing, the situation is 95% complete in the natural realm, and still 100% complete in the spiritual realm.
Effective prayer never commands God, nor does it command people; instead, it commands the situation to line up with God's word and speaks to the unseen forces influencing the situation. As the saying goes, "Don't speak to God about how big your mountain is; speak to your mountain about how big your God is." When we speak God's words with a confidence grounded in Christ's authority, demons tremble.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your living, powerful, life-changing word. It is Your promise, plans and purposes - Your will - written to me. It is forever settled in heaven, and when I speak it in faith, circumstances have to change. Your name, Your word and Your blood - a three-stranded chord is not easily broken. Thank You, Father! In Jesus' name. Amen
