Question: Processor Upgrades

I have a question about processor upgrades. I am using a P5-120XL with
80 Meg memory. I am thinking of "upgrading" the processor. Since
loading Win98SE I have noticed a definite lack of performance
compounded even more with my upgrade to Quicken 2000. I am not quite
ready, willing, able, or at an attitude where I wish to purchase a new
PC just yet. Also, by upgrading the processor I can continue to use my
existing memory. Whereas if I purchase a new motherboard I would also
need memory. With this in mind I started checking out processor upgrades. I have
found several that can take the processor to 233MHz, e.g., PNY.
www.pny.com/product/quickchip_index.cfm This sounds OK and I
was ready to do it when I ran across an upgrade from PowerLeap. They
have a system that mates an AMD K6-III at 400 MHz
www.powerleap.com/index.html onto the board. This sounded
pretty good even though the bus speed would still be limited to 33
MHz, i.e., no free lunch.I searched Usenet group for comments on their service and found 16
articles running about 5 very against, 5 very for and the balance OK
with a few problems that were worked out. So the question is has
anybody in this group used either of these products. Not knowing the
people in the Usenet group I trust the opinions from this group much
more. Even so, I realize that even here we have a wide range of
thoughts on the same products. But at least it would be another data
point or two.Anxiously awaiting your most esteemed opinions,
jc mehner
