Later in the day after our kitten was bit by the fox, my son went out
hunting, saw a fox but was unable to get a shot off, within an hour my bil
called and said he shot a fox that was walking up and down the walkway at my
in laws house (which is just thru the field from us) he thought the fox was
not acting normal. I did call the health dept and was told to quarentine the
cat for 3 months and as long as I wasn't bit or had any open cuts I would be
ok (praise the Lord), but Archie was more than likely exposed and should be
put down. on thursday my husband took the fox to Penn State Vet school and
it test positive for rabies, and we were told to destroy the cat. Needless
to say we are all very sad, but knew it was best so no one else would be at
risk. This is the 2nd time in a year that we lost an orange tiger kitten
(both named Archie) to a fox incident. The first time someone set traps on
my bil land for fox and archie got caught. No more orange tiger cats for usJodi
