Re: intro

Hi Emily, Glad to have you with us. My name is Brian Masinick, and I am
the administrator of the list. We always welcome discussions and contributions
to the list. As you'll find out, occasionally there are a few people who
do write, from time to time, to update us on their situations, ask for prayers,
or offer encouragement to someone else. I always welcome such interaction.

As for me, I have also been through a situation where I did not share a
common faith with my spouse. In my case, my spouse left me completely.
I later discovered that our entire relationship was built, not on trust,
honesty, and love, but on secret infidelity and a desire to take instead
of give. Out of my own shortcomings in that same relationship, God has
not only taught me, but He has given me another chance to make it right.
I now have a wife and children who are loved, who can be trusted, and who
have a home where Christ is honored. So out of my own discouragements and
personal failures, God has given me new hope.

I have just returned from a week of family vacation (with my lovely wife
and young children). I will be returning to share daily devotional messages
during the week. The messages vary in theme, but the general idea is to
seek God, learn more about His love and His ways, and grow in our relationship
with Him. It is on this basis that I think that God can work, even in
families where God is recognized by only one or two in the family. I think
when each of us personally knows Christ, and really leans on Him, and not
on the empty parts of our human relationships, then God can work. We don't
distance ourselves from those we know and love; on the contrary, as we come
to really understand the love of Christ, we can appreciate our own need of
Him, and then we can have empathy (not sympathy or apathy or pity) for those
that we love.

I write messages that do not always speak directly to our individual family
problems, yet, if you apply the messages to what is going on, personally,
often, they will fit. I find that they fit the issues in my life that I
have alluded to; hopefully a similar thing will happen for you as well.

I encourage your prayers as I write, and I want you to know that I am
continually in prayer for the members of our list. I do not know each
person individually and personally, but I have been through many of the
same struggles and issues that many of the list members face. I have
fallen flat on my face, at times, and time after time, God has loved me,
forgiven me, and lifted me up. I believe He has used my humanness as a
way to minister to others who can identify with the same hurts and struggles.

Welcome! You are deeply loved, fully accepted, and completely forgiven,
just as I am. I know that because I completely believe the promises of
God that are written clearly in the Bible. I also identify with each of
those things, haven been unloved, rejected, and scorned --- Christ felt
those things, too, but He went MUCH further than me. He continued to love,
even after being unloved, rejected, and scorned, to the point of death, yet,
unlike me, He never deserved any of it, whereas I often deserved what I
received. I believe, and I have been adopted into God's family, a true
brother in Christ. I trust, in that context, that I may be your brother,
and you are a sister in Christ.

Brother Brian
