This has been a long journey, but I've finally completed this amazing cab - a fEARful 15/6/1tube courtesy of Dave Green. This cab is the top left of the stack at this link http://greenboy.us/fEARful/#earfuls and plans for all the DIY models (only the fEARful range) can be found here http://greenboy.us/fEARful/DL/
After joining the greenboy.us/forum sometime in 2012, it was over a year later in Aug 2013 that I began accumulating components that I would need for my build. I almost had everything ready to start building late in 2013 when my wife & I suddenly found ourselves heading to Dubuque, IA, for a job I got there contracting at IBM, & everything was packed into our shed in Ballarat, VIC until our eventual (then unkown) return.
Well, last Oct we returned to Oz & I landed work in Sydney & we relocated to Wollongong, NSW, from where we left over 20 years ago. It's good to be back! It's also good to be able to resurrect this bass cab project, which I've slowly completed over the last few months, having brought all the bits & pieces with the rest of our houseful of stuff. The finished product & my current rig is in the pic below. The theme behind the baffle design ended being a tip-o-the-hat to Aussie great Sir Jack Brabham, former F1 Champion and the only individual to ever win both the F1 Drivers' Championship AND Manufacturers' Championship in the same year! He's a legend and, believe me, the output of this cab (& all Greenboy designed cabs) is nothing short of phenomenal!
I finished sufficiently by Tue evening to be able to take the new rig along to Creative Team practice at church on Wed evening. Clear and authoritative without any hint of boom or distress. Mind you my PF-500 only would output 350W into an 8ohm load but I never turned much above 10 o'clock to comfortably fill a 300-400 seat space loudly. Designed to handle 900W+ continuous, I should be looking for a much more capable amp, but I may never need it for my purposes. Drivers are: Eminence 3015LF 15", 18sound 6NM410B 6", Eminence APT80 Supertweeter. It has a passive 3-way crossover network that I assembled from the supplied kit. Dimensions of this model are 24" wide, 26" high, 16" deep, Weight 47.6lb, 21.6kg. Cabinet is constructed from 12mm falcata plywood including bracing as per design.
