Re: 386?

Based on a quick perusal of the classifieds in our local paper you might
could value the 386 at $100-$150 and the 286 at $50. I personally wouldn't
pay either price, but those are the ranges of asking prices in the
classifieds.

Subject: [CCMag] 386?

OK, folks. Please don't laugh at me...

I'm being asked to write up a value statement for someone who is donating
two computers to a church, and I'm clueless! Both are in good working
order, and will be used to fill a single-purpose need.

The first one (the "good" one!) is a clone 386 with 256k RAM and a teeny
hard drive. The second one is a 286! I've not even booted it up yet.

Included in this generous donation are two monochrome monitors as well as
two Epson FX-86e printers, with one extra cartridge.

At first blush, I would have said she should pay THEM to take the stuff off
her hands. However, the church is very willing to take this stuff and put
it to use, so there has to be SOME value.

Thank you -- I appreciate any input.

Dave
