I have WinNT so there may be some differences but I'd suggest you check the
file association for *.html and *.htm files. On my system I do this via:
1. Launch Windows Explorer;
2. Select Options from the View menu;
3. Click File Types tab;
4. Scroll Registered File Types until you find "Microsoft HTML Document
5.0"; Click on it;
5. Click on "Edit..." button;
6. Click on Actions: open (which is in bold (i.e., default action) on my
system);
7. Click on "Edit..." button;
8. Look at values in various widgets for a further clue as to your problem.
E.g., on my system:
Application used to perform the action:
"F:PROGRA~1IEiexplore.exe" -nohome
Use DDE: [checkbox is checked]
DDE Message: "file://%1",,-1,,,,,
Application: IExplore
DDE Application Not Running: [text field is blank]
Topic: WWW_OpenURL
I suspect on your system "Application used to perform the action:" should
contain something like:
a) "C:PROGRA~1IEiexplore.exe" -nohome; or
b) "C:Program FilesIEiexplore.exe" -nohome
You may want to post the results of doing the above for further info to
readers to help in solving your problem. (If you do want to make changes,
copy and paste any settings you change to separate lines in a temporary text
file so that you can revert back if needed.)

I have Windows95. All of a sudden when I click on a link in an
email an older version of IE (4) pops up along with the new 5. It
goes to the link in 5, but not in the older one. And, when I try
to go to an URL via the address selector in the menu bar, the old
version appears but nothing happens. Anyone have a clue?
