You know, Cheryl, I wouldn't worry too much. There is that old adage about
any press . . . and, in fact, I've been wanting to pick "Eyes..." and now I
want to read it all the more. Everything we read is recreated within our own
baggage and personality, so it's entirely possible for others to have a
totally different take as much as it is for others to agree. She is a fine
writer and so professional. I don't doubt that she knew when she wrote those
scenes that they had the potential to cause discussion. The fact that she
touched you so deeply is evidence of her skill and your empathy. IN many
ways, what you said is a compliment.
