I think he was wise in sticking with the literal translation, simply because
a lot of people who read his works are not knowledgeable about rapture and
end times etc. My husband is one -- he has never really studied prophecy or
Revelation. The literalness of it, drew my husband into a desire to know
more. Make sense? Plus -- anything other than literal is an interpretation
and I am sure (or at least hope) he did not want to present any
interpretation as being truth. Let me also add that I only read the first 2
books, so I haven't read how he handled the locusts etc. Not sure how
'"believable"
those scenes are in the book.

I wonder if the lack of suspense comes from his writing style or your
knowledge of the subject? There were no surprises in the 2 I read for me at
all, but I have studied Revelation and end times a good bit. Again my husband
was surprised many times.

I do think they are books written for the mass market and written at an
interest level to appeal to a wide range of folks, so that would mean they
might be a bit more fluff and puff than a similar series written for End Time
Scholars.

I will tell you that I read most of the 1st book of the series for kids and
the characters, to me, are more developed. It starts before rapture and
introduces you to each of the main characters and their life etc. I thought
it was very well done. Wish they had done some of that with the regular
series. I felt the characters were a bit hollow and needed developing more.

Oh well, not ever book is going to appeal to each and every one of us! Your
cloning plot idea sounds good. I'll be interested to see if it gets accepted
and to read it if so.
