Susan,I just finished reading this two days ago. I read it in about 3 days. I had a hard time putting it down to go to sleep at night. It is excellent, isn't it? Up until a year or so ago I didn't read much fiction, but then I got tired of non-fiction with everyone telling me through their books their opinion, not necessarily the truth. The only truth, I came to discover, is God's truth, not what someone else is interpreting for me. So, still being a reader, I started reading more Christian fiction. Before that I would read it here and there and now it is almost exclusively fiction. I've learned so much more through Christian fiction than I have through Christian non-fiction. I know all fiction is based on something that has happened in the author's life or someone close to them. I see how God works in their characters, how the characters go through difficult times and see more of God in their lives. Because of Francine Rivers' new book, I have made the decision to make sure and befriend our new pastor's wife and children who are coming to our church in August. I just want them to know that we love them and value them for who they are.Julie-------Original Message-------<div dir=ltr style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt" From: [email protected]<div dir=ltr style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt" Date: Thursday, June 26, 2003 12:44:40 PM

Dear Friends,
As most of you know, I don't read a lot of fiction. So when a Christian novel grabs me, I need to tell you about it!
This is Francine Rivers' latest book "And the Shofar Blew". It's a contemporary novel, about a pastor and his family. I won't say anymore, but I will say that I've had a hard time putting it down to do other things!! It's about 450 pages and I'm not a speed-reader, so it's taking me awhile to get it finished.
I got mine at the public library, and I'm SO thankful to have a good public library and church library!
Love,
Susan
