Re: An Apology

My opinion:

To Newcomb:
I think you`re quite right in defending a straight-forward reading of The
Holy Scriptures.
Jesus Himself said that man and woman was created in the beginning, not with
hard hearts as to want the possibility of divorce, but in accoradance with
the primary and original intentions of God Almighty.
I`ve just viewed the "debate" from outside, and I`ve not seen that you
(Newcomb) have said anything offensive whatsoever.

I general to the Forum:
No Christian are to be ashamed of God`s own words. In them are life eternal.
That is what we Christains believe in, and that is what we have to stick to.
What is found in nature is very consistent with a straightforward reading of
Genesis.
Secular, and often staunce opponentes of Christian theology, wants
evolutionary ideas to be true, because it would be "convenient" for them as
an excuse for "explaining away" the necesity for: 1) an original perfect
creation, 2) Mankinds accountability to God as special creatures, 3) the
reality of the Fall, 4) the historical reliability of the very Words of God,
and thus 5) the validity of the Gospel and Christian moral.
>From inference: if evolution was evident from the BIble, why did it take
until 1859 (the year of publishing for "The Origin of the Species"), for
anyone to think of it?
God are surely most able to declare the boundaries and intention of His own
creation Himself, in a way most dicernible to any reader of the Bible.
God has called us to hold God`s own views in higher esteem than men`s views.
Natural Laws and anything directly observational, is of a different nature,
than anything of forensic scrutiny. The Gospels are told by eyewitnesses,
and Genesis are God`s own description of His creating acts.
That would at least be the direct conclusion from Jesus`own words:
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator `made
them male and female,`*
[* Gen. 1: 27] and said, `For this reason a man will leave his father and
mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh`*?
[* Gen. 2: 24] So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has
joined together, let man not separate." "Why then," they asked, "did Moses
command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her
away?" Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because
your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. (Matt
19,4-8)
There`s a difference between the situation during the period of the Mosaic
Law, and how how it was from the beginning. A strict belief in secular
evolution makes this distinction absurd, and almost meaningless. That is
very important for a reasonable view and understanding of the meaning of the
Cross, the Ressurection, and the New Heaven and Earth.

Yours,
Egil Wold, Norway
