I know dinosaurs of several types were mentioned, and I had poster some awile back (re-posted below). Im a fan of critters that will enhance the fantasy elements, such as tree creatures, animal-intelligent dragons (drake? Wyrm?).-AaronGolem (classic clay automaton)
Number Appearing: 1-2
Size: 6-7 feet
Move: 2/- (cant run or swim)
Carry: 500lbs
Courage DL: 4
Battle Ability: 15
Attack: 15
Defense: 20
Damage: Huge Fist 2 SST, Crush 3 SST (x 2 man-sized or smaller)
Physical Vitality: 50
Special: Golems are immune to poison, disease, and drowning, they do not sleep, eat, drink or feel discomfort in any way.
These strange creatures are actually constructed by the efforts of magicians or dragons, and are used as sentries, tireless laborers, or vehicles of destruction. Golems are molded out of enchanted clay into the shape of a large man. Some are crafted to the point that they are almost indistinguishable from rough-hewn men, but many others look like vague caricatures of the human form. A golem is suicidaly dedicated to the commands of its master and any dragon that commands it. They will pursue their last command to the letter, ignoring or destroying all obstacles and dangers to its objective.
A golem will often be found guarding lost tombs, catacombs, dragons hoard, or other locale where something is in need of a tireless guard or laborer. Fortunately for Lightraiders, these things are quite rare and expensive to create.
Tunnel Worm
Number Appearing: 1 SST
Size: 6-12ft long
Move: 1/3
Carry: 150
Courage DL: 3
Battle Ability: 12
Attack: 12
Defense: 10
Damage: SSt Tentacles plus poison (see below), SSt +2 Beak
Physical Vitality: 30
Special: Paralytic Tentacles deal a paralytic poison, Endurance DL 6 or become paralysed for 1 SST in rounds. Vision is 10 even in pitch black. Vision test or Listening test at DL 4 to notice when this creature is following the party.
These slimy eyeless monsters ooze their way along the corridors of the deepest dungeons and caverns, seeking offal, carrion (or creatures it can turn into carrion) on which to feed. The creature look a bit like giant fish-belly white caterpillars with a beaked head ringed with thrashing tentacles. These monsters can squeeze their bulk through opening no wider than a foot wide, though they might be quite large.
Cowardly by nature, tunnel worms prefer to scavenge from other creatures and can often be found dwelling near underground communities or in the lower sewers of some cities. They have also been known to follow adventurers who venture through their territories, eating their waste, fallen foes and friends.
These creatures are often kept as waste disposal for underground cultures such as dwarves, deep gnomes, and dark elves. The eggs of these creatures (always deposited in huge slimy clusters in stagnant underground ponds) are considered a delicacy by underground races, though humans generally consider them to be utterly revolting (Courage DL 2 just to attempt it, and Endurance DL 5 to keep it down).
Amphithere (Dragon hating serpent)
Number Appearing: 1 SST
Size: 12ft long
Move: 3/5/4 (swim)
Carry: 150lbs
Courage DL: 5
Battle Ability: 15
Attack: 15
Defense: 15/20 vs ranged attacks
Damage: SSt+2 bite, 2 SSt crush
Physical Vitality: 40
Special: Sense Evil 10 in regards to dragons, and reptilian Dark Creatures..
This large serpent-like creature can often be confused as some sort of dragon, and in-fact has a dragon like head with three horns sprouting from its head. Despite there appearance, amphitheres absolutely despise dragons, and have an uncanny ability to find there lairs and will seek to smash dragon eggs or kill there hatchlings when they can. Because of this, dragons slay these creatures whenever they discover there locales and offer bounties for there hides.
Amphitheres like hot climates, and will often cunningly hide there underground lairs. Despite there hatred of dragons, these creatures are not tame and might bite or attempt to kill Lightraiders who unwisely approach them. The only time that these creatures are safe is when a dragon is about, when they become professional in demeanor and will work with other creatures to hunt dragonkind.
Karkadan (False Unicorn)
Number Appearing: 1-3
Size: 9ft long
Move: 3/5
Carry: 600lbs
Courage DL: 5
Battle Ability: 15
Attack: 15
Defense: 20 (thick hide)
Damage: SST+3 Horn, 2 SST Trample
Physical Vitality: 70
Special: A karkadan can and will eat ANYTHING, from brambles and carrion, to wood and thorn vines.
Often thought to be a unicorn by onceborn peoples, these temperament al animals only vaguely resemble true unicorns. These animals are roughly horse-like, with a thick horn sprouting from its forehead and thick cylindrical legs much like an elephant.
Dwelling singly or in small herds, the karkadan is a normally shy creature unless riled, in which case they fly into a murderous rampage. Most natural predators keep there distance from a karkadan unless very hungry or considerably larger.
