For the ascetic, the body is a thing to be punished, denied, even abused. The body is regarded as evil and the only way to defeat it is to starve it of anything that might a spark desire… In brief, asceticism is the belief that if you add up enough physical negatives you will get a spiritual positive. Mere avoidance becomes the pathway to holiness.

Personally, I like the idea of talking animal player characters. I'm
currently playing in another game system where I am a 3 ft. tall
anthropomorphic mole. I just am having trouble seeing how the animal
characters could fit into Dragonraid's system - Being Twiceborn, being
sent out, dealing with Onceborn NPC's . . . I'm just having trouble
visualizing it.

I must have missed something, what are the canon and Celtic settings?
