We certainly see some angry cats at the vet clinic where I work!  They can really be dangerous when scared and angry.  Nothing to take lightly, that's for sure.  We sometimes have to use leather welding gloves to handle them, and if they are feral or super crazy we catch them with a long fishing net, hold it up, and do a quick injection of a sedative.
